A few years ago now, I read online somewhere about another blogger that was trying to keep things simple and the budget from exploding around the holidays. It's easy to get carried away with all of the sales going on and the feeling of wanting just to get this or that.
I felt that's the way we were headed too and wanted to keep our Christmas more focused on family time rather than things or time spent shopping. I wanted to experience Christmas-- being lazy at home in pjs and making Christmas cookies or brunch together on the weekends. Forget the crowded lines at the mall. I also didn't want to pull my hair out come January when the bills started rolling in and realize that we over spent again.
We started giving each other four gifts while I was pregnant with Henry. It worked so well that year and even during his first Christmas. My children will never know a Christmas without it. On the plus side, it has made us think more about what we really want and have the budget to buy quality items that we'll always treasure.
The four gifts are so simple. They are WANT, NEED, READ and WEAR. That's it. Four things. Now Santa still brings one special gift and a stocking full of little treats but that's it. No overwhelming feelings with a million presents, you actually remember what you received. There's a simple feeling of gratefulness and contentment.
And so I bring you the Four Things for Christmas 2015 Gift Guide: (this will be updated with links as I post the lists)
Also, in the shop will be some cute letters to Santa you can have your littles fill out and printable gift tags to adorn your presents under the tree.
Here's to a simple Christmas!!! xo
